The mentorship program is also first of the kind in this area. She shines has been providing mentorship to teenage girls in rural parts of Western Kenya since 2018. This program is intended to understand the issues teenage girls face and promote social and emotional development for girls in the area and to reduce the current primary school drop-out rate, teenage pregnancy and early marriages. Girls receive mentorship talks by experienced and successful women from the area. Since the program was established in 2018, over 3000 teenage girls from 4 primary schools have benefited from the programs. Since its inception, the mentorship program has led to an increased number of girls joining high school and to a drop in the number of teenage pregnancies from these schools.
